Frequently Asked Questions

First appointment and finding the best support for you

How can you be certain that I am the right therapist for you?

The best way to find out is by booking a session. Generally, within the first two sessions, most individuals can determine if I am the right professional to assist them. To address some of your inquiries and identify your therapeutic needs, I offer a complimentary 15-minute introductory call.

 Who do you work with?

I specialise in working with adults aged 18 and above. My areas of expertise are depression, anxiety, childhood trauma, grief and loss, eating disorders, addiction, relationship issues, fatigue, stress management, life transition and adjustment issues

What to expect from therapy?

It's not uncommon to feel a bit nervous before your initial session. Rest assured, therapy is a collaborative process where we embark on a shared journey towards your mental well-being. While I'll be there to support you every step of the way, ultimately, the decisions and progress are yours to make. Here are some key principles that underpin my practice, ensuring a therapeutic experience you can trust.

What to expect in your first session?

During your first session, I encourage you to share your story, goals, and desired changes. This session also serves as an opportunity for us to determine if we are a good match. It's important to feel a sense of trust in our relationship, as it will form the basis for our collaboration. Together, we will identify goals and I will provide guidance on how to achieve them.

Meeting frequency: maximising progress and momentum

To ensure effective treatment, we highly recommend meeting on a weekly basis. This will allow us to establish your treatment goals and build momentum towards your desired outcomes. Additionally, I also offer the option of meeting every two weeks for those who prefer a longer interval between sessions.

Pricing and payment information

My fee for a 50-minute session is $190. Payment will be due at the time of your appointment.

 Do you accept insurance?

I accept insurance from several health funds, including Medibank, HCF, BUPA, Police Health Fund, Emergency Services Health, Phoenix Health, St Lukes Health, GMHBA, CUA Health (for telehealth only), Teachers Union Health, AIA, and Westfund. Before booking a session, please verify with your insurance provider that your policy covers counselling services. Payment for services is due at the time of your appointment, but I will provide you with an invoice to facilitate your rebate claim.

What is your policy regarding cancellations.

Individual session : Please note that I require 24 hours notice for cancellations. Failure to provide sufficient notice will result in a full fee charge for the missed appointment.

Practice sessions and workshops: Cancellation with more than 7 days before the workshop, you'll get a full refund. Between 3 and 7 days before the workshop, we'll give you a voucher for another workshop in the future. Cancellation from 3 days or 24 hrs before the workshop, you won't get a refund or voucher, but a guest can attend on your name. Once the workshop has started, no refunds or vouchers will be given.

What theoretical approach do you use?
I provide a
holistic approach to care. My clinical practice encompasses therapy modalities including psychodynamic therapy, Somatic Experiencing, attachment-based therapy, CBT, mindfulness, solution focused brief therapy, motivational interviewing, and acceptance and commitment therapy

Do you provide prescriptions for medication?

No, I am not a medical doctor. While many of my patients find medication to be beneficial, many also experience progress through therapy alone. If you are seeking evaluation for psychiatric medication, please reach out to your primary care physician or a psychiatrist. If you are currently taking medication, I am available to collaborate with your doctor to ensure coordinated care.

Do you have any restrictions on the clients you work with?

I specialise in working with adults aged 18 and above and do not provide services for children or couples. Additionally, I do not conduct child custody evaluations..
